iOS 7.1 b4 Confirmed to Patch Evasi0n 7 iOS 7.0.4 JailbreakYesterday, following Apple’s release of the fourth beta iteration of iOS 7.1, famed hacker iH8sn0w unfortunately confirmed what we predicted following evasi0n7′s release. At least one of the vulnerabilities exploited by evasi0n 7 was patched by Apple in their release of 7.1 beta 4: the kernel exploit. While it pains us to type this, the inevitable fact is that Apple will render the evasi0n7 UnTethered iOS 7 jailbreak useless with their next public update on firmwares newer than 7.0.4 (i.e. 7.1). Genius hacker MuscleNerd of the evad3rs however reminds (new) jailbreakers that the primary Dev Teams never comment on whether or not exploits are closed in betas, as it doesn’t do anything but help confirm Apple’s patch work.
That being said, it wouldn’t be nearly as hard for Apple’s infinite staff of programers to reverse engineer evasi0n7 and patch the exact vulnerabilities the utility targets and exploits as it was for the evad3rs to create evasi0n7 in the first place.
Again though, as mentioned above, the harsh reality of the matter is that Apple will patch the UnTethered 7.0.4 jailbreak with the company’s forthcoming release of 7.1.
Furthermore, at the rate the evad3rs are working, and due to the intricacy involved in developing a utility for dozens of varying device models, it’s entirely probable that the next UnTethered jailbreak won’t see the light of day until after Apple releases iOS 8 and their next round of iDevices.
Those of you who wish to retain your jailbreak should not only avoid the future public release of 7.1, but precautionary measures should also be taken to ensure that you don’t mistakenly update. The best possible thing one can do to avoid updating is to pay attention! While it may seem obvious, so many individuals blindly click the “Update” option inside iTunes without being fully cognizant of their decision to forfeit their jailbreak.
Of course, we’ll have additional coverage along the way and we’ll certainly keep you updated on all new developments on both the iOS and jailbreak scenes – keep your browsers locked to Jailbreak Evasion.
